Kenyan boys express early interest in Cecafa event set for Eritrea

COUNTDWON to this year’s revived Cecafa U15 Boys Challenge Cup in Eritrea, August 16 – September 1, continued with Kenya naming they travelling squad.

Some Kenyan boys’ have some experience playing away from home including; Rajab Umar, Gil Harel, James Gachago, Kevin Wangaya, and Zein Mwakitawa who were among the squad which took part in the 2017 Southampton Cup U13 category in England, winning the shield trophy.

The last time Kenyan age-group teams played in Eritrea was in 2013 at the Cecafa U19 championship. In that team included current Kenya international Paul Were and Anthony “Teddy” Akumu.

Kenya are pooled in Group ‘A’ with Somalia, Burundi and hosts Eritrea. The (Kenya) Young Stars  open their account with Somalia on August 16  before playing Burundi on August 19. They will finish their Group games with Eritrea on August 23.
